Mineclearer VR Demo

Mineclearer VR is a minesweeper game in VR. Move around and analyse the field you stand on from a first person perspective in VR. The goal is to clear all safe tiles while avoiding the tiles containing mines. 

This downloadable demo is for PCVR play (Windows to Meta Quest), containing the standard minesweeper game mode with options for grid size and difficulty. 

A VR-compatible PC and PC-VR-connection is required. 

Gameplay

The gameplay involves analysing and revealing the grid you stand on. The grid starts with all tiles unrevealed. Each tile can either be clear, contain a mine, or contain a number. 

• If a tile that is clear is revealed, it will automatically reveal all adjacent tiles. 
• If a tile that contains a mine is revealed, it will blow up and the player has lost.
• If a tile contains a number, that number represents how many mines exist adjacent to this tile (both orthogonaly and diagonaly). 

Tiles can be revealed by the player poking at it with the Poking Device found at the player's belt, or by simply walking onto it. Flags can also be placed on tiles to mark it as containing a mine. This will prevent it from being revealed and potentially blowing up as long as the flag stays. 

Controls (Meta Quest 2):

• Left joystick - Movement (continuous)
• Right joystick - Turning (snap turn)
• Grip buttons - Grab
• Activate buttons - Extend poking device when held
• A - Run speed
• B - Toggle game menu

Planned Content

The following content is not yet implemented, but will be worked on towards the full release of the game. 

• Coop - The player in VR cannot see the numbers, but must communicate with a player on PC who can only see the grid and numbers
• Online Multiplayer - Multiple players can play together on the same minefield, or on separate minefields competing to finish first
• Animal Appearances - Wild animals can appear and start walking over tiles if not scared or lead away by the player
• Special Mines - Jumping mines, diffusable mines
• Twitch Integration - Twitch chat can trigger random events to happen or vote which tile to go for
